Manchester Soccer Club U19 Boys won the 23rd Annual Memorial Day Weekend Tournament in Amherst, NH on May 25, 2015. After playing poorly in the first game of the tournament, losing 1-0 to Revolution United, the MSC team turned it around the next day. On Sunday MSC defeated Hampshire United 4-1, punctuated by a spectacular back flip scoring celebration by Heran Rai, followed by a 5-0 victory against the Middletown, RI team. The wins got the team into the semi-finals on Monday.
With seconds remaining in the semi-final match and the Windham team leading 2-1, Blaise Masumbuko was fouled in the box and awarded a PK that was calmly converted by Jackson Schneider. Double overtime saw some rough, scoreless play leading to both teams converting shots during the PK shoot-out until Keeper Aidan Ryan saved Windham's 8th PK to secure a trip to the finals for MSC.
In the championship game MSC met Revolution United again. Hoping to avenge their only loss, MSC had to shuffle cramping players and the loss of their only keeper for the tournament to field their team by using one of their strongest center midfielders as keeper. Benny Tamzarian, who hadn't been between the posts for over a year, performed particularly well throughout the tournament and his strong play continued into the final. Again MSC found themselves down by 2-1 with five minutes to go when Blaise Masumbuko scored from distance to tie it up. A scoreless double overtime played by an exhausted MSC team again led to a PK shoot-out. After scoring a PK, Benny saved the Revolution's 7th PK and the MSC team, coached by Gary Lorusso, and comprised of Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors became tournament champions.
